Beauty Without Cruelty (BWC)
BWC deals with many issues of animal treatment in our society, but particularly with the
use of animals in the cosmetic and clothing industries. BWC publishes a cruelty-free cosmetic list, which
lists the companies which do not use animal tests for their products or the ingredients of their products.
BWC also publishes a magazine on an annual basis.

Domestic Animal Rescue Group (DARG)
"The gentle alternative"
DARG attends to the problem of domestic animals which are abandoned
or abused. Many animal shelters believe that euthanasia is the best solution to this problem. DARG
believes that these animals have the right to a better life to make up for all the
suffering they have been through. DARG has a no-kill policy and rescues animals from pounds
and off the street. DARG's selfless volunteers do everything in their power to find good homes
for each animal.

Animal Voice of SA
This organisation incorporates a magazine which is edited by investigative journalist and author,
Louise van der Merwe. All issues of cruelty to animals are covered, the main emphasis being on
the use of animals in agriculture. Animal Voice also campaigns actively and offers a mail order
catalogue for videos, books, posters, bumper stickers, stamps and so on.

Many drivers in the Cape Town area have seen cart horses pulling heavy loads on the open road, even on
hot summer days. The Cart horse Protection Association aims to prevent and stop the abuse and neglect of
thousands of these cart horses working around Cape Town.

ARO's Health and Welfare officers provide a valuable service to these underdeveloped communities.

SAAV takes a strong stance against the use of animals in research. SAAV believes that, apart
from the obvious immorality of vivisection, this outdated form of medical science is harmful
